Testimonials

Thank you Dee for starting our puppy Bessi on the road to being a truly well behaved, happy and well adjusted member of the family.

We really appreciated you allowing our children to come along to the puppy preschool lessons. As we have never owned a dog before, the information and understanding that the children (and the puppy) learned from participating in the classes was truly invaluable.

I'm not sure who you trained better - the puppy, or the children!

Kindest regards,
The Cavanagh Family, Birkdale

Tao loves Aunty Dee

Our Great Dane Tao learnt a lot from Dee's training classes. He started at 12 weeks and enjoyed the lessons, mixing with other dogs and using the training equipment.

Being a large dog, it was important that he behave so he could fit in with our family's lifestyle. He is able to come into the house and we know he will do as he is told and we have no problems with him being out of control, a dangerous thing for a dog his size.

Tao will sit and stay when told, come to us when he is called, go to the toilet on command, as well as wait to be asked  to enter a doorway without barging in, in front of us. He will not touch his food until he has sat and waited for the command to eat. He won't jump on us or visitors.
Dee showed us how to teach him to walk comfortably by our side without pulling, which makes walks very enjoyable.

The lessons we learnt with Dee have made owning our baby Great Dane an absolute delight. There are times he can be a bit naughty, but he is only 15months old, so he is still testing us. Dee taught us to be consistent and the method works.

We have two dogs in our home, and thanks to Dee's training lessons, our Great Dane is better behaved than our Mini Foxie.

Hi Dee,
Just wanted to say a big "thank you" for your help regarding the education and training of my precious pug, Harriet. She really enjoys the activities and we have a lot of fun.

Hi, my name is Richard and I have been attending Dee’s classes since November 2005 with our first dog Tazzie who was then just 14 weeks old. Tazzie (11 months old) is a Miniature Schnauzer, although now at 14.5 kg not so miniature anymore but he thrives on the learning experience he receives at the classes. Being the only male in the class (me not the dog), has it’s moments, but each week we have lots of fun and we fully enjoy being totally embarrassed by Dee as she continues to make our dogs do things that we currently can only dream of.

My wife (Joanne), now takes our second Miniature Schnauzer Phoenix along on Monday nights and he has quickly settled into the Sit, Drop & Stay routine. One of the most important things we have learned from Dee’s classes is to understand the personalities of our two Schnauzers. They are totally opposite in character.  By attending the classes we have learned to understand the signals each of our dogs gives out and this is something I would never have looked for in our previous dogs.

Would I recommend Dee’s classes to other Dog owners? In one word, Absolutely!  Both Joanne and I will continue to attend future classes to see exactly how far we can go with the two newest members of our family.

Best wishes,

Joanne & Richard Grooms

The Foster family

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is T-Bone. I am a 24 month old bull arab cross, a very large dog, bred for wild bore hunting. I weigh between 55 to 60 kg. I used to wear a check chain and pull my owners around when we walked. Gosh no wonder we stopped going places! I had started to display some pretty bad behaviour to!

About three months ago my owners acting upon advice from a vet had my family jewels removed. I must say at first it was unpleasant but after a few days things settled down. You see I had never had any training before and no-one to play with so I had become aggressive to other dogs, especially other males. Some young kids had also been teasing me and eyeballing me and I was not happy. I would bark a lot in a very aggressive manner.

I consider myself very fortunate to be around because of my bad behaviour. See my owners were considering putting me down.

It was decided to give me one last chance and I was introduced to Dee Scott from Positive Response Dog Training. Boy she smelt good…..mmm devon and was very kind. Dee came to my place to do an assessment on me and then gradually bought me down to the vet clinic for my training. My human family were taught about my language and how to learn to understand me better. Over the last eight weeks I have been given behavioural training and I must say my general behaviour has changed for the better. I am much friendlier towards other dogs, have made friends at the dog park, have been incorporated into one of Dee’s class groups and get on with some of my classmates. My owners are no longer embarrassed by my past behaviour and tell me I’m a pleasure to walk.

Thank you Dee for sharing your skills with my family

Yours

T-Bone

Labrador sisters no longer a hand full

We had our hands full with two magnificent golden retriever, Labrador cross sisters but with the training they received from Positive Response we have enjoyed living with very well behaved, happy and well balanced and socialised dogs that are a part of our family.

Thank you Dee! Karen and Gary Klenner

No limits for Skye
I would like to thank Dee for educating me about puppies/dogs, how they learn and how we can better communicate with them. I have a gorgeous Golden Retriever pup Skye who just wanted to play before we went to Puppy Preschool but now she has so much confidence and is eager to learn and has picked everything up so easily. Both Skye andI have benefited from Dee's training and I am even starting to teach my older German Shepard new tricks! Thanks Dee

 Monet is a Pleasure

We first met Dee Scott when we took our dog Monet, to attend a Positive Response Dog Training Session at Redlands Clinic, Boundary Road, Thornlands. For me, this was the second obedience training that Monet had attended, the first in Toowoomba leaving me quite stressed.

Dee could see that I was quite stressed, a dog pulling me along, it was clear to see that Monet was calling the ‘shots’ as she was controlling me.

Dee explained about leadership rolls in families and that we needed to be clear consise leaders for Monet. Through regular and positive training methods, Monet came to understand commands and differentiate between good and bad behaviour, and she was rewarded through that training.

Continual reinforcement of that training had added to a great relationship with dog and owner and Monet is a pleasure. Our success with Monet is a direct result of the regular classes we attended.

Peter and I cannot thank Dee enough for sharing a wealth of experience in assisting us to train Monet.

Sincere Regards
Ellen and Peter Koehler

Mickey is now a happy little bloke!

We got our little dog Mickey from the local pound. He was a troubled little dog and was very nervous.

We enrolled with Dee and within a couple of weeks we saw a dramatic improvement in his behaviour. The basic skills we learnt helped us to get Mickey under control and allow us to do more with him. A great tip was to spread his food out round the yard, it keeps him very busy.

He is a happy little bloke now, thanks Dee.

Lazy Minnie is a treat to have

Minnie the Greyhound came into our lives as a 4 year old ex racer dumped on the doors of the RSPCA. I fell in love with the Greyhound nature. Like my husband, they are lazy, soo affectionate, and are REALLY good with the kids. Being an ex racer and not going through a re-homing program like Friends of the Hound, Minnie came with problems. She made herself boss.

The couch, the clean washing, and the beds (which made for a very unhappy husband) had became hers. The kids were pushed off the couch onto the floor and any food around was hers to be had. Not to mention tha,t racing hounds are taught to catch the small fluffy object, and suddenly, our cat had come to fear for her life, as had the maltese terriers accross the road and any other dog that came within two metres of us.

Also living inside the home, Minnie was not toilet trained and so went toileting anywhere; on concrete, tiles, carpet she didnt care. She ran into glass doors, windows and pushed the flyscreen door straight out of its frame, and when she escaped into the street she was off! We needed help.

Dee was recommended to us and our Minnie is now a very different dog. She comes when called, yes even when she gets out into the street. Minnie lies on the floor now, not the bed or the couch unless invited, and she doesnt even try now. The other day I saw the cat licking Minnie's leg and Minnie didn't bark or snap and the cat is now only in fear sometimes.

At obedience Minnie doesnt always snap or growl as much (still a work in progress) and she is very much improved, to the point were we are doing a little off lead work. She is toilet trained but unfortunately has developed a taste for lego and still continues to steal the kids teddy bears if not put up high. Greyhounds don't usually sit but Minnie has learnt to sit. With Dee she has been getting better and better.

I never thought we'd be able to change some of Minnie's behaviours that have been taught and bred into her . If things hadn't worked as they had I was at one stage contemplating sending Minnie back to the RSPCA thinking I had done the wrong thing, but you changed all that and Dee ,

I have never seriously said thankyou, so thankyou from the Goodman family and Minnie

VETERINARY HAPPINESS

Redland Bay

“At Veterinary Happiness Redland Bay, we know that “Healthy Pets Are Happy Pets” and this not only applies to their physical wellbeing but their mental wellbeing too.  This is why we actively recommend the Delta Society methods of training incorporating a Delta Society trainer in our Puppy Preschool classes and refer cases onto qualified Delta trainers for further work at home and in classes.  Both older dogs and puppies need structure and support in their lives in order to encourage behaviours which are acceptable to their human companions both at home and in public.  Positive reinforcement training gives them this so that they can feel confident and content in themselves and in their environment.  When we give to our pets, they always give a lot more back!

At Veterinary Happiness, Dr Deborah and Dr Trudy both have a great love of pets and their care, and in educating and informing owners on how to get the most out of their bond with their pet.  We have a wonderful nursing team in Noel, Katrina and Vicki who help us to deliver a personalised and caring service to our clients and the very best in care to our patients.  We provide a complete veterinary service, from nail trimming right up to orthopedic surgery, and are exceptionally well trained and equipped to look after all the health needs of mans’ (and woman’s) best friend!

Freydo's now a great little companion

Not having had a dog for over 15 years I found that my new little friend was quite a handful and not quite like the docile dogs I had had in the past. Dee helped me to understand and better train my dog, Freydo and I have a much better understanding of each other.

I would recommend her to anyone who is interested in becoming a smarter dog owner.
