My name is Lisa, I have lived in this sunny state of ours now for seven (7) years. I married a mature, fantastic man named Ben in April 2008, who encouraged me to take the leap and follow my life’s passion. It all started with Willow, when I volunteered with Guide Dogs Qld to be a Puppy Raiser. Being unable to complete the program, Willow came home to live with us. Looking to full fill my dream I completed a Certificate III in Companion Animal Services at Brisbane North Institute of Tafe. During this course I met Dee and brought Willow along to Canine College 1 Class and to take my first step at seeing how things really happened. That class was a real eye opener for me and made me want to pursue my dream further as a reward based trainer. 2009 is a big year for me, joining Positive Response. Under Dee’s tutelage I am working my way thru the Delta Society Australia’s Canine Good Citizen Behavioural Dog Training Course, which when completed will give me a Level IV Certificate in Companion Animal Services that is a nationally recognised training accreditation. A few of you will have had Willow and I progress up through the Classes with you, most of you will have seen me hovering around helping Dee with your class and some of you will have had the pleasure of me stepping in to teach you a specific behaviour. In the last few months, having stepped up to teach some of the puppy curriculum I have had the pleasure of working with you, our valued clients. Thank you for helping me to become a better teacher. I look forward to working with the team at Positive Response Dog Training as a full time trainer in the near future. Lisa Kanne. |
Barking Tips
Barking dogs create problems for everyone.Use this check list to help your dog succeed.
- Is your dog medically fit or does it have hearing problems or other factors that can cause pain?
- Does your dog get a minimum of two walks a day?
- Are you providing enough environmental enrichment to keep your dog busy and working through out the day? Don't know what this is, please contact us.
- Does your dog get out to a variety of places throughout the week?
- Does your dog come inside and spend quality time with the family?
Dogs have many reasons for barking. In general it is because they are bored. Try scatter feeding, using a kong, hiding foodstuffs and other boredom busters to set your dog up for the day. Get up earlier and take your dog for a quick sprint around the block. Recognise that a quick fix such as a barking collar can make matters worse.
