NEW LAWS REGARDING DOGS TRAVELLING IN VEHICLES
Positive Response has been proactive in changing laws here in QLD in order to save lives. An animal that is not restrained in a vehichle can be badly injured not to mention the humans in the car should there be an accident.
Two weeks ago new laws were passed by the Queensland Government stating that no animal may be carried on the drivers lap or on the petrol tank of a motor bike (this carries with it a fine of $233) and that if an animal moves or becomes agitated that the driver risks loosing control of the vehicle, it is recommended that all animals should be securely restrained or housed in a suitable cage or container. We have provided the following link to the Queensland Governments PDF of General Road Rules and Amendments- Questions and Answers simple click on the link and scroll down to page 4 carrying an animal. click here
Dee has been working with state government to amend these laws to make it compulsory to have dogs in vehicles secured on a harness or in a crate. (laws for dogs on utes already exist). We will notify you all once these laws have been amended but also keep an eye out oun your local newspapers as this is where it is advertised. |
